Ophiuchus is very rarely ever recognized by many Astrologers as an actual zodiac sign.  Its not even counted as a sign in most charts or Zodiac illustrations in modern times.  As of 2009, if you are born between November 29 to December 18, congratulations, you are an Ophiuchus. 



Ophiuchus was one of forty-eight originally discovered constellations in the second century by Astronomer Ptolemy. It is still listed as one of eighty-eight current constellations. Its corresponding symbol (animal) is the serpent. The sign's star lineup is in a constellation shaped like the creature.

 Aspiring and current Astrologers need to keep this in mind. There are actually 13 constellations, and people who are considered to be divided into the third part of Sagittarius are actually Ophiuchus'. 

I know three of them, and they all have some Sagittarius or Capricorn characteristics, because unfortunately, my only experience is with three people on the cusp of Sagittarius or on the other side, being Capricorn cusps. I continue to be vigilant to find other studies of people born on these dates to continue my research and findings as well as knowledge of noticeable characteristics of these unique people!  If you're born in 2990 or this year, the dates have changed again from November 29th to December 18th, to make things even more confusing, ouch!
